Let’s get one thing out of the way: Riz Ahmed doesn’t need rizz, he is Riz. Just look at how he sauntered into his blind date with Willa (that accent!). The guessing process this week was pretty straightforward. Rapper? “Sometimes.” Actor? Big pause, but ultimately, “Yes.” Model? Had to think about it, but actually, “No.” Willa initially landed on Timothée Chalamet, mixed in the accent component and switched to Central Cee and, in no time, she landed on Riz. They officially greeted each other with a hug (yes, manners!), then dove right in.
Willa learned a lot from the Cosmo reader questions. First, did we know that Fleabag-British is separate from other fonts of British people? Or that Hamlet has been in the works for nearly fifteen years? The more you know! Also, Girls is back in the conversation right now, but Riz actually remembers none of his Emmy-nominated guest spot (and still hasn’t watched past season one). What he did share is that it all happened because of a post on Lena Dunham’s IG—which you, reader, should take as a sign to always shoot your shot. Willa had her own questions about how Riz’s rap career came to be, which I’ll let you uncover on your own.
The rest of the date was filled with advice gems that I’ll personally carry with me forever. Riz’s key to setting boundaries with an attractive friend? No T+LT (touching and late-night texting, of course). The best time to say, “I love you?” ASAP, no time to waste. I also felt very seen when Riz told Willa that drummers are the hottest member of a band (I’ve always said this) but then felt the need to schedule therapy when he said all drummers are a bit crazy (which he knows because he played one in Sound of Metal). I’ll spend some time digging into that. Will update you when you’re back for next week’s episode. Cheers!
